Terms & Conditions

·        The MSD teachers are all qualified through SDTA and/or GTC. Guest teachers are industry professionals.

·        The team- Shirley Ann McLean FSDTA BSc PGCE, Gillian Craig MSDTA MA (Hons) Dance Science and Education, Wendy Lawrence MSDTA, Jennifer Lickerish ASDTA, Lindsay McPherson BA (Hons) Education, Lynsay Platt ASDTA, Danielle McBride ASDTA, Aimee McCallum ASDTA plus senior school assistants.

·        Class setting is broadly by age but ultimately will be at the teacher’s discretion.

·        No pupil will be permitted to take their class unless the class fee has already been paid. There can be no exceptions. A late fee may apply for late payment of fees.

·        Suitable clothing and footwear must be worn- if you need the uniform emailed to you just contact Shirley Ann on shirleybayley@rocketmail.com

·        MSD will not be responsible for the loss of or damage to any personal property.

·        MSD reserves the right to stop a pupil taking part due to disorderly conduct, disruptive behaviour, not being suitably dressed or for any other reason determined by the teacher as unsuitable behaviour.

·        Mobile phones must be OFF and should not be used during class time.

·        A drink of plain water should be brought to class for p3 and over - no snacks please

·        No drinks to be brought by Nursery, P1 or P2 Saturday classes.

·        No one is permitted to sit in and watch any class. 

·        Photographs of dancers during special events and shows may be used on the dancing school website, facebook page or for publicity purposes. They will not be used for any other purpose without consent from parents/guardians. At our annual show in June a DVD will also be taken which will be available to buy after the show. As it is virtually impossible to exclude any single participant from the show DVD, you will be consenting to filming and photography by the Dance School official photographer on completion of an enrolment form.

·        All pupils will follow the syllabus of the SDTA (Scottish Dance Teachers’ Alliance) and will be presented for assessments/exams when they have reached the level required. They will receive a certificate of achievement for this and sometimes a medal/badge depending on the assessment/exam sat. An exam/assessment fee applies.

·        Dancing is not a 'drop in' hobby. It requires the commitment from you to bring your child every week. This might mean dragging tired wee girls out of bed or missing out on the odd party etc particularly if your child has already missed a class due to illness. We want to give your child the best experience possible and good attendance is a must for this to happen and to settle pupils quickly.

·        Pupils should not be attending other dance classes out with McLean School of Dance without prior arrangement - it leads to conflict in standards, technique and date clashes. Pupils not following this will be asked to choose or leave. I would ask you to respect this.


Attendance

·        If the dancer is unwell or for some other reason will not be attending class you should text Shirley Ann before your class on 07974 252307.

·        If a dancer fails to turn up three weeks in a row without informing us, they will be removed from the register and their place offered to someone on the waiting list.

·        Young dancers must be collected from inside class venues. If parents/guardians are held up please text the teacher so that dancers can be supervised until they arrive. Otherwise no responsibility will be taken for dancers out with their class time.

Thank you in advance for your co-operation in helping everything to run as smoothly as possible. This will allow us to give your child the best dance experience possible.

The dancers will also take part in our annual dance show (provisionally booked for evening of Sat June 1st 2019). 


We ask all parents to provide an email address so that we can keep you informed. Please check your account regularly (including junk mail folder). A mobile number is also required should we need to contact you by text eg. if a class has to be cancelled in bad weather. There is also a McLean-School Of-Dance Members only closed group on facebook which we would ask you to request as we often post updates on this group.
